The first Ashes between England and Australia is being played at Edgbaston and the English team has the upper hand in the starter of this epic saga. England captain Ben Stokes declared their first innings on the first day itself when they were standing at 393. He also kept a tactical fielding during the Australian innings and the most highlighted one was how they got the wicket of the Australian set batter.
According to former cricketer Michael Vaughan, if England can reach a total of 250 runs or more, they will have a strong advantage and be in a favorable position to secure victory in the opening match of the series.
Vaughan also discussed the Australian spin wizard Nathan Lyon and warned the England batters for the fourth inning. Vaughan feels that Lyon can make a difference for the opponent and he can create trouble with his accurate line and length.
According to a quote by India Today, Vaughan said, “I’d rather be in England’s position. This Bazball approach against a world-class performer in Nathan Lyon. There has also been a little bit more for the seamers. The key is how England plays Lyon. If they get over 250 it will be a very hard chase for Australia.”
In the second innings, the England Cricket Team already had a lead of more than 200 runs.
