The 13th edition of one of the most prestigious T20 events Big Bash League is all set to commence on December 7. The final of this tournament will be held on January 24, 2024. Australian cricket has a super busy schedule that’s why the final will be played in the mid-week of January. The reports claim that Australia will face West Indies in a Day-Night Test Match(January 25-29) and that’s why the Australian Cricket management has set this date for the decider.
The upcoming season will also witness a decrease in the number of matches. The league stage will hold only 40 games and after it, there will be Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and then the final of the tournament.
The general manager of the Big Bash League Alistair Dobson said, “The dates of the KFC BBL season will again compliment the overall shape of this summer’s cricket schedule and culminate with finals well within the school holidays.”
He further stated, “The start of the season will also present some unique opportunities to engage with communities, connect with fans and introduce exciting new initiatives, which will be announced in due course.”
Apart from the Men’s tournament, the Women’s Big Bash League is all set to start from October 19 and the decider of this league for Women will be played on December 2.
The upcoming season of BBL will see more players showing their interest. Last year more than 330 players submitted their names for the event and the organizers are expecting the same number this year as well.
“As we saw last year, the BBL overseas player draft injected significant excitement and interest into the global T20 market, and we look forward to seeing this extend to the WBBL this year,” Alistair Dobson said.
