The former West Indian batter and one of the giants of T20 cricket, Chris Gayle expressed his thoughts on the formidable winning streak of Mumbai Indians. Gayle said that Mumbai Indians could be the biggest hurdle for Chennai Super Kings if MI reaches the finals of the IPL 2023.
Gayle emphasised the significance of the home advantage for the defending champions, Gujarat Titans in the crucial Qualifier 2 match. He opined that GT could have an edge over Mumbai Indians. Gayle also noted that MI’s current winning streak could be the challenge for Chennai Super Kings in the final match.
They’re (MI) going to GT’s hometown (Ahmedabad), so that’s going to be a big plus for them. That’s something we have to take into consideration. But the momentum is now with Mumbai. Is Mumbai going all the way to the final? If they do, CSK doesn’t want to see a team like Mumbai,” Gayle said on JioCinema.
Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians performed exceptionally well against Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. After a decent batting performance, Akash Madhwal shattered the batting lineup of LSG. The five-wicket haul helped MI to clinch a 81-run win against Krunal Pandya’s team.
