IPL 2023: Big Setback For RCB, Star Batter Likely To Miss Half Of The Tournament

Royal Challengers Bangalore will play its first match of the Indian Premier League 2023 against Mumbai Indians On 2nd April. But, there is a piece of bad news for RCB before the tournament starts.

The budding wicket-keeper batter of RCB Rajat Patidar who had a great season last year is likely to miss half of the IPL 2023 due to injury issues. Last year, Rajat Patidar made an impressive debut in the IPL while playing for the RCB. Despite being a replacement player for the IPL 2022, Patidar showed excellent batting skills which helped him to make a permanent seat in the batting lineup.

Patidar holds the record for the fastest century scored by an Indian player in the tournament which is also the fastest by an uncapped player. He achieved this feat in just 49 balls during a match against Lucknow Super Giants after which RCB cruised to the second eliminator.

Now according to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the batter is still healing from his heel injury and is expected to be absent for the first half of the tournament. The report suggests that Patidar has been asked to take a leave for three weeks to get proper rest. The outcome of the MRI scan will determine if he is fit to feature in the second half of the tournament or not.
