The ODI World Cup 2023 is just three months away and the participation of Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup remains uncertain due to his ongoing recovery from a back injury. The former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif believes that Bumrah’s presence will be crucial for Team India’s success in the tournament. Bumrah has been a key figure in India’s fast bowling attack since his debut in 2016 but he has faced consistent injuries over the past year. His most recent appearance for the Indian team was in September 2022.
Kaif further said that team India holds an advantage in the upcoming ODI World Cup as this event will be hosted by India only. He emphasised the importance of senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma stepping up their game for the tournament, especially considering that India’s first match is against Australia on October 8. Kaif, who is currently part of the commentary team, often gives his advice and suggestions and now he has talked about India’s chances in the upcoming tournament.
While interacting to DD India, Kaif said,”
“India’s chances are quite bright because playing at home, we know the conditions better compared to other teams. Spinners might be able to play a bigger role. We have the players to win the tournament.”
He further added,“The challenging part for India will be that you need to have all the senior players ready, fitness-wise and form-wise. Bowling should be okay I guess. If we can bat well, we will be a tough side to beat. If we talk about Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, all these senior players have to stand up and win matches.”

Kaif is hopeful of Jasprit Bumrah making his comeback before the ODI World Cup.
The former cricketer said,”If we can add Bumrah in the squad, he has been injured for the last few months now, now they are saying he might be back for the Asia Cup, so it’s good news. I think we need Bumrah. Rohit Sharma as a captain has probably missed Bumrah a lot.”
