The eagerly awaited schedule for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has been officially announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC). With exactly 100 days remaining until the tournament commences, cricket fans worldwide can now mark their calendars for the much-anticipated event. The World Cup will be hosted by India and is scheduled from October 5 to November 19, 2023.
The prestigious tournament will begin with a thrilling encounter between England and New Zealand at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As the reigning champions, England will look to make a strong statement in their opening match against the formidable New Zealand side.
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be hosted across ten cities in India, each providing its unique flavor and cricketing atmosphere. The cities chosen to host the prestigious matches are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. In all, the tournament will comprise 48 games played over 46 days. Meanwhile, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram in addition to Hyderabad will host the warm-up matches from September 29 to October 3. These venues have been carefully selected to ensure that cricket fans from various regions of the country can witness the thrilling matches and be part of the World Cup excitement.
As for the Indian cricket team’s campaign, they will begin their journey in the tournament with a match against Australia in Chennai on October 8. One of the most highly anticipated matches of the World Cup, the clash between India and Pakistan, will take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad. This match is known for its intensity and the passionate rivalry between the two nations.
