Breaking Barriers: Nathan Lyon Surpasses Courtney Walsh in Test Cricket’s Wicket-Takers’ List

The mighty Australians are up against the Blackcaps for the two-match test series. The first match of the series is currently being played in windy Wellington.

In the first test match against New Zealand star Australian off-spinner, Nathan Lyon registered another record to his name as the office Surpassed all-time West Indies great Courtney Walsh, becoming the seventh-highest wicket-taker in test matches.

Lyon had a phenomenal day with the ball as the office went on to pick up four wickets in the first innings of New Zealand, taking his tally to 521 in 128 test matches for Australia.

Lyon picked up his third wicket of the first innings to surpass Courtney Walsh’s tally of 519 test wickets. Lyon has been one of the consistent members of the Australian test setup, bowling over 32440 balls in test matches for Australia.

One other notable fact about Nathan Lyon is that he has never bowled a no-ball in his entire test career until now. Lyon has picked up 521 test wickets till now and has been able to surpass many greats of the game.

However, Nathan Lyon is still behind Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and James Anderson. 

Out of his 521 test wickets, Lyon has picked up 116 test wickets against India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the highest for any bowler in this series.
