IPL 2024: Rayudu’s Candid Remarks on RCB’s Overzealous Celebrations

Former cricket player for both CSK and India, Ambati Rayudu, poked fun at RCB’s raucous celebrations after their team lost to RR in the Eliminator match, which eliminated them from the Indian Premier League 2024. On Wednesday, May 22, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Faf du Plessis-led team lost to RR by four wickets and was eliminated from the competition.

Rayudu mocked RCB’s raucous celebrations after defeating CSK in their most recent league game in Bengaluru, saying it alone wouldn’t be enough to win them an IPL trophy. Notably, despite participating in all 17 seasons to date and placing third three times, the Bengaluru-based team has failed to win an IPL trophy.

Speaking about RCB today demonstrates that winning trophies is not solely dependent on fervor and raucous celebrations. You must make plans. Just making it to the playoffs did not earn you an IPL trophy. You must play with an equal sense of hunger. You cannot win the IPL trophy by defeating CSK alone. You’ll have to return the following year,” Rayudu stated on Star Sports.

Remarkably, after defeating CSK to go to the playoffs, RCB faced harsh criticism on social media. The Bengaluru-based team came under fire from supporters for their extravagant field celebrations and for allegedly disrespecting MS Dhoni, a legend of CSK who was purportedly playing in his final match of a professional career.

After the game, outside the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, RCB fans received criticism for their actions toward CSK fans in addition to the players.

Speaking ahead of schedule, Rayudu emphasized Bengaluru’s lack of confidence in the Indian talent and added that only Kohli has amassed more than 1000 runs for the team.
