“Played for our own…”Virat Kohli Shares IPL 2024 Reflections

Virat Kohli pondered on RCB’s journey following their exit from the IPL 2024. The Challengers were eliminated on Wednesday, May 22, after losing to Sanju Samson’s RR by four wickets in the Eliminator at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. RCB was once striving to move up the standings.

Needing to win their last six league matches, they went on a winning streak and advanced to the playoffs. Kohli admitted that RCB struggled in the beginning but eventually found their footing.

“We underperformed in the first half of the season. We were not meeting the criteria that we set for ourselves as cricketers. And then, we just began expressing ourselves, started playing for our own self-respect, and then the confidence came back,” Kohli remarked in a video posted on RCB’s social media handles.

Earlier, RCB defeated the formidable CSK by 27 runs at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The knock not only advanced the Challengers to the playoffs, but it also eliminated the Super Kings from the race. “The way we turned things around and qualified was genuinely remarkable, something I will always treasure and remember since it required a lot of character and passion from each member of the squad, and it is something we can all be proud of. “We eventually played the way we wanted to play,” Kohli remarked.

Kohli also praised the RCB fans for supporting the club through thick and thin. After defeating Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK, the fans went to the streets to celebrate.
