In the 35th match of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022 India won Bangladesh hy 5 runs in a rain-interrupted match at Adelaide Oval. With this win, Bangladesh is almost out of the tournament whereas India has almost confirmed its spot for the semifinal.
After the match, while speaking at the post-match presentation Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter claimed that on-field umpires missed an incident where Indian star Virat Kohli tried to replicate ”Fake – Fielding’ against them. If umpires would have noticed it then the result could have been in Bangladesh’s favor with a five-run penalty for that fake fielding. The incident happened in the seventh over when Axar Patel was bowling for India and Litton Das played the ball toward the deep off-side. The ball went directly to Arshdeeo Singh and he sent a throw from the boundary but Kohli who was then standing at the point showed that the bowling was passing through him and he actioned a throw without having a ball in his hand. Marais Erasmus and Chris Brown did not take any action which basically comes under the category of unfair play.
After the match, Nurul said, “We all saw that it was wet ground. Eventually, when we talked about these things, there was also a fake throw. It could have been a five-run penalty. That also could have gone our way, but unfortunately, even that didn’t materialize.”

According to Cricket Law 41.5 based on unfair play – ” It is prohibited to deliberate distraction, deception or obstruction of [the] batter”, and if an incident is deemed to be a breach, the umpire can declare that particular delivery as dead ball, and five runs will be awarded to the batting side.
