Shikhar Dhawan will replace Mayank Agarwal as the new captain of Punjab Kings in IPL 2023.
The new coach of Punjab Kings, Trevor Bayliss, supported Dhawan as the new captain, which the members approved at the franchise board meeting on Wednesday.
Dhawan will take over Mayank Agarwal as the captain of the Punjab Kings, in IPL 2023. In the IPL 2022, the Punjab kings retained Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh just ahead of the mega auction, where Dhawan was the first player bought by the franchise.
However, there is no information about Mayank Agarwal, whether they will retain or release him for the next IPL. Every franchise has to submit the list of the players which they want to keep in the IPL 2023
Shikhar Dhawan is the most experienced player in the IPL and has played all season since the IPL started. Recently, BCCI announced the team of the New Zealand tour for a three-match ODI, which is led by Shikhar Dhawan. Previously, in the ODIs series against South Africa, which was played by the second-string of the Indian team was led by Dhawan.

In IPL, Dhawan had captained in 11 matches, in which his team has four wins and seven losses. He has scored 6244 runs in 206 matches with a splendid average of 35.08. His highest score of IPL is 106*. He has scored 47 fifties and two centuries to his name.
