Why did Rohit Sharma Leave The Field On Day 3 ? Bumrah Becomes Captain, BCCI Gives The Reason

Indian captain Rohit Sharma faced a potential injury setback during the fifth and last Test against England which ruled him out from the field on Saturday.

Rohit Sharma was found to have a stiff back, and the confirmation of this information came from the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) during the initial session of the third day’s play at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Jasprit Bumrah who is in the team as the vice-captain, took charge of overseeing operations, implementing crucial adjustments in bowling and fielding as India extended their lead in the first innings to 259.

Bumrah along with R Ashwin came for the bowling attack, and the strategic choice of entrusting the new ball to the off-spinner proved advantageous for India. Ashwin secured the dismissal of England opener Ben Duckett in the very first over, intensifying the pressure on the visiting team, putting them at risk of an innings defeat.

This is the first instance in the 5-Test series that Rohit Sharma was absent from a day’s play due to fitness concerns. Despite ongoing injury and availability challenges in recent weeks, the India captain had consistently featured in the XI. Notably, the back problem emerged a day after Rohit Sharma scored his second century of the series.
