‘Virat Was India’s As Well As RCB Captain But He Still….’ Chahal Biggest Revelation On His Exclusion From T20 World Cup 2021

Team India’s leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, recently revealed that being excluded from the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE was the saddest phase of his career. While Varun Chakravarthy was preferred over him, Chahal expressed his disappointment and frustration. However, his wife, Dhanashree Verma, played a crucial role in helping him overcome the setback.

In an interview on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel, Chahal candidly shared his emotions during the difficult period. “I went to the bathroom and cried,” he confessed, highlighting the profound impact of not being selected for the prestigious tournament. The disappointment weighed heavily on him, and he found solace in the support of his wife, who stood by him during those trying times.

Chahal’s exclusion led to speculation and debates among fans and critics alike, with many questioning the selectors’ decision to overlook the talented spinner. The choice to include Varun Chakravarthy instead faced harsh criticism, as fans believed Chahal’s experience and prowess in the T20 format warranted a spot in the squad.

Despite his frustration, Chahal maintained his composure and never confronted anyone about the decision. Notably, the fact that his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, Virat Kohli, was also the captain of the Indian cricket team during the T20 World Cup added an extra layer of complexity to the situation.

“We watched movies. I was feeling strange because Virat was the Indian captain and was leading RCB as well. But I never ask anyone why I was not considered.”

During that challenging phase, Yuzvendra Chahal found comfort in spending quality time with his wife, watching movies together, and leaning on her unwavering support. The encouragement and empathy he received from Dhanashree Verma played a pivotal role in helping him regain focus and move forward positively.

“When I was not selected for the 2021 T20 World Cup, I felt the saddest. My wife helped me to overcome that period. I was very angry,” he added.
