“Till now I have seen poor organization…”: Mohammad Hafeez Criticized BCCI For Poor Arrangements In ODI World Cup 2023

The much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 finally kicked off as the defending champions faced off against the Blackcaps on October 5th in Ahmedabad. One of the major issues that raised eyebrows was the last-minute alterations to the tournament schedule. The World Cup coincided with a busy festival period in India, which prompted local authorities to request changes in the fixtures, including the highly awaited India-Pakistan clash. This sudden reshuffling left fans disoriented and disappointed.

Ticketing became another contentious point of concern. Fans had to endure long queues to secure physical copies of their tickets, which was a far cry from the convenience they had anticipated when booking online through platforms like “BookMyShow.” To add to the frustration, fans often encountered the “sold out” message when trying to purchase tickets online, leaving them perplexed and disheartened.

In an unusual twist of events, “BookMyShow” mysteriously released 14,000 tickets for the India-Pakistan clash just a week before the game. This abrupt availability of tickets raised questions about the entire ticketing process and the transparency of ticket distribution.

Former Pakistani cricket captain Mohammad Hafeez did not mince words when he criticized the organization and planning of the World Cup. In a recent cricket show in Pakistan, Hafeez expressed his concerns about the tournament’s poor organization and planning. He emphasized the need for global thinking and decision-making when hosting a prestigious international event like the World Cup.

“Overall World Cup we have seen in 4 days. Till now I have seen poor organization, and poor planning from the organizers. Second, the biggest problem I have seen in this is that crowd response is not good. When you make a global tournament, you have to take your mind globally to make decisions. You can never make big decisions with small intentions,” Hafeez stated.
