Sachin Tendulkar is a name that needs no introduction in the world of cricket. Widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played the game, Sachin Tendulkar’s contribution to cricket is unparalleled.
From the time he made his debut for India as a 16-year-old in 1989, Tendulkar has been a key figure in the Indian cricket team. He has broken almost every batting record there is, including the most runs in Test cricket and most centuries in both Test and One Day International cricket. He has also played a crucial role in India’s many memorable victories over the years, including their 2011 World Cup triumph.
But Tendulkar’s contribution to cricket goes beyond just his on-field performances. Now Sachin will add another feather to his cap. A life-size statue of the renowned batter is about to be unveiled at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as one of the greatest gestures to honor Master Blaster for the same.
Sachin played his last international match against West Indies in 2023 at Wankhede and according to Indian Express a statue of Tendulkar will be unveiled to celebrate his 50th birthday.
The president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Amol Kale said, “It will be the first statue in Wankhede Stadium, we will decide where it will be placed.”
Kale further said, “He (Sachin) is a Bharat Ratna and everyone knows what he has done for cricket. As he turns 50, it will be a small token of appreciation from the MCA. I spoke to him three weeks ago and his consent was received.”
