Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged as standout performers in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction conducted in Dubai on December 19. The defending champions showcased their strategic prowess by making substantial investments, totaling Rs 30.40 crore, to acquire a promising lineup of six players.
The management included three international players and an equal number of talented Indian players. CSK secured the services of two accomplished New Zealand all-rounders, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, both of whom garnered acclaim for their stellar performances in the recently concluded ODI World Cup.

Weakness
Chennai Super Kings have some smart bowlers but they lack the pure speedsters who can actually clock 150+. While Deepak Chahar and Matheesha Pathirana showcase skill as bowlers, the team lacks a certain level of lethal aggression in their bowling. The team lacks reliable backup options. Tusshar Deshpande had a decent performance last year but he struggled with inconsistency. Although Shardul Thakur possesses the ability to claim crucial wickets he seems to be expensive most of the time.

As the IPL 2024 approaches, the possibility looms that it might signify the culmination of Dhoni’s playing career. Meanwhile, Kiwi emerging talent Rachin Ravindra has the opportunity to solidify a lasting connection with the franchise through sustained outstanding performances in the World Cup. Not only this, but Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Shivam Dubey might also be looking to make their place in the upcoming T20 World Cup with their good performances in the tournament.
Threat
As such, there is no threat for CSK in the upcoming edition, however, MS Dhoni will have to look after his knee for which he got surgery last year right after the IPL.
