Riyan Parag has been at his absolute best this season with the bat. After drawing criticism in the past few seasons with regards to his heroics with the bat, Riyan parag form with the bat continued with the bat against Punjab kings in which he scored 48 (34) . This knock from Parag also helped him get to the 500-run mark in the ongoing IPL season.
In 12 matches so far, Riyan Parag has scored 531 runs at an average of 59 and a strike rate of 152.59.
After Riyan’s impressive performance this season with the bat, RR coach Shane Bond was all praise for the youngster to perform in such a way after drawing criticism for his performance in the past season.
“Isn’t Riyan having a fantastic season? It has truly worked out for him to be promoted to number four. People tend to forget how young he is because he spent a lot of years batting in a position that was really difficult lower on the order. It simply requires time while you’re young. I clearly observed how well he performed in domestic cricket and this season, especially in T20s,” Bond remarked at the press conference following the game.
“He has performed admirably for us this season, and just let it be known that he is a top-notch player. I’m quite happy for him and impressed with the way he’s performed thus far. I believe the team is ecstatic about him. He’s taken a lot of flak for his performances over the past few years, so it’s a true compliment to him for his hard work that he’s managed to put it behind him and finish this season at the number four spot.
