Neither Bumrah nor Starc: This is the Fastest Bowler in the Eyes of Phil Salt

Jofra Archer, an England teammate, was described by Phil Salt as the fastest bowler he had ever faced. Salt acknowledged that he had been hit by Archer’s deadly bouncers and was astounded by his raw pace. England’s 15-man roster for the T20 World Cup includes Salt and Archer. On Wednesday, June 4, England and Scotland will play in the tournament’s opening match at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

In an interview with the Knights Dugout podcast, Salt said he was afraid to face Archer in the nets. Salt remembered getting banged up by Archer’s intense speed, but he also claimed that it improved his reflexes.

Following his recovery from an elbow injury, Archer will return to the England team. The England pacer’s last appearance for his country was in March 2023, during the team’s tour to Bangladesh, more than a year ago.

In a four-match T20I series, the T20 World Cup team will also play Pakistan. Because of this, halfway through the 2024 IPL season, some English players, including Salt, Jos Buttler, Will Jacks, and Reece Topley, have decided not to play.

Speaking candidly, Phil Salt shared his first-ever experience of being picked for the England squad. He disclosed that it was the initial instance when his phone erupted with congrats following his inclusion in England’s 15-man roster.

“It was the first time I had ever had so many messages on my phone. Even though I don’t use the phone much in general, this was a fantastic experience. It was fantastic that congratulations were flooding my phone,” Salt continued.
