Unveiling N Srinivasan’s Clear Take on Replacing MS Dhoni As CSK Captain

Ms. Dhoni is all set to lead the defending champion Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of the IPL; however, even before the start of the tournament, there have been talks about this season probably being Ms. Dhoni’s last season with CSK.

Recently, CSK’s CEO admitted that there have been talks in the franchise about the future captain of CSK but also revealed owner N. Srinivasan’s message regarding CSK’s future captain.

Ms. Dhoni diminished all the rumors regarding his retirement after CSK won the trophy in the previous edition of the IPL, saying that he would play another season for the fans, as it would be a gift from his side to the fans for their love and support.

However, speculations have once again risen about Ms.’s retirement this season, so CSK will not only try to defend their cup but will also have their eyes set on Dhoni’s successor.

Speaking about the same, CSK’s CEO, Kasi Vishwanathan, said, “See, there have been internal talks. But Mr. Srinivasan has made it very clear. Let’s not talk about captain and vice captain appointments. Let’s leave it to the coach and the captain to decide. Let them decide and convey the information to me, and then I will convey it to you all. He has said that ‘the captain and the coach will decide and give us a directive; till then, let’s all keep quiet’.”

CSK won the previous edition of the IPL under Ms. Dhoni’s captaincy; however, ahead of the upcoming season, CSK’s CEO is optimistic about another brilliant season from the team. He also gave hints about Dhoni’s plan for the upcoming season of the IPL.

Kasi Vishwanathan said, “We have always focused on qualifying for the knockouts. That’s our first aim. After that, it depends on the performance on that day. We are following that even now. Before every season, MS Dhoni tells us, ‘First, let us concentrate on league games. We will look to qualify for the knockouts’. Yes, the pressure is there. But over the years, because of our consistency, most of the players have gotten used to this pressure.”
