Injured Lyon Will Play In The Rest Part Of Lord’s Test Or Not? Steve Smith Provides Massive Update

The star Australian batter Steve Smith has expressed concerns about Nathan Lyon’s condition after the off-spinner suffered an injury towards the end of the second day. Smith indicated that the outlook for Lyon’s participation in the remaining stages of the game for Australia appears to be unfavorable.

Lyon played his 100th game in the longest format of the game at Lord’s cricket ground. It is one of the most highlighted milestones of his career. However, things did not go in favor of Nathan Lyon and things became worse for the veteran off-spinner from Australia.

During the final session of the day, Lyon got this injury while making a running effort to catch a ball. At that time he was positioned in the deep fine-leg area and he hurriedly moved towards the catch as Duckett struck a delivery from Green into the air. Unfortunately, Lyon did not reach the and it caused injury to him as he clutched his calf area.

While providing an update on the injury of Lyon, Smith said that Lyon is not all good and it would be a big harm for Australia if he could not take part in the rest of this second Ashes Test.

After the stump of Day 3, Smith said, “I haven’t been up in the sheds yet, but obviously it didn’t look good. It doesn’t look ideal for the rest of the game.”

“I’m not sure how he actually is. But obviously if he’s no good, it’s a big loss for us.”

“He’s in his 100th consecutive Test match, which I know he was really looking forward to taking part in and having a role in as well. Fingers crossed he’s OK, but it didn’t look good.”
