BCCI Sets Deadline To Submit List Of Retained Players, Check The Reports

In the thrilling world of cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a spectacle that keeps fans on the edge of their seats. And the excitement doesn’t stop even after the IPL season concludes. Now, it’s all about the prelude to IPL 2024, and there’s some important news from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The BCCI has set November 15 as the deadline for IPL franchises to submit their lists of retained and released players. This step is crucial as it sets the stage for the most awaited cricketing events the IPL auction.

Mark your calendars for December 19 because the IPL 2024 auction is set to take place, and the location is none other than Dubai. As cricket enthusiasts, we can’t help but anticipate this event. However, there’s a twist – the IPL auction will coincide with the second One Day International (ODI) of the South Africa vs India series in Gqeberha. It’s a day cricket fans will want to attend.

The IPL 2024 auction will be different from your typical multi-day event. Instead, it will be a mini-auction condensed into one thrilling day. Remember the IPL 2023 mini-auction? It was a game-changer, and we’re expecting nothing less this time.

The previous mini-auction in 2023 had its fair share of jaw-dropping moments. Some of the biggest names in cricket were sold for impressive sums. Punjab Kings boldly moved by acquiring Sam Curran for a staggering INR 18.5 crore. Mumbai Indians bet big on Cameron Green, securing him for INR 17.5 crore. But the surprises didn’t stop there. Chennai Super Kings splurged INR 16.25 crore to bring Ben Stokes into their squad. It was a testament to the increasing quality of the IPL auctions.

In total, 80 players found new homes during the IPL 2023 auction, with 29 overseas players.

Here’s where the real game-changer comes in. For IPL 2024, all ten franchises will have a purse of INR 100 crore to spend at the auction. That’s an increase of INR 5 crore from the previous season. This increment will heat the competition among teams to grab their desired players.

As we delve into the numbers, seeing how the different franchises are positioned is intriguing. Currently, Punjab Kings boast the largest purse with INR 12.20 crore left to spend.
