Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu commended Delhi Capitals’ emerging batting talent Tristan Stubbs after the South African player’s remarkable conclusion to the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Stubbs delivered a match-winning performance against Lucknow Super Giants at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday and Rayudu has praised the Proteas for his performance.
Former Indian batter Rayudu compared Stubbs with the former South African legend AB de Villiers. Stubbs’ performances have captured significant attention this season, with his adeptness at adapting to different deliveries and executing powerful shots distinguishing him as an exceptional player.
While talking to Star Sports, Stubbs said, “Tristan Stubbs is an all-round package. He has bowled a beautiful over and the way he has been striking the ball this season — he hits every length, right from the short ball to a fuller ball. He is also very good against slower ones. I feel he has tremendous talent. He is one of those South Africans in the mold of AB de Villiers. I think he has a long way to get there. But, he looks really good to become as good as AB de Villiers.”
The all-rounder showcased his potential with an impressive unbeaten innings of 57 runs from only 25 balls against LSG. His innings featured three fours and four sixes, achieving an outstanding strike rate of 228.00. He also played an important role in the match dismissing Ayush Badoni while bowling.
