After The Men’s IPL, BCCI Has Now Announced The Date Of The Women’s IPL Set To Happen In 2023

After the 15 successive IPL seasons, BCCI has finally announced the commencement of Women’s IPL. The first women’s IPL is scheduled to take place in March, and some of the nation’s greatest athletes, including senior opener Mandhana and national team captain Harmanpreet, are excited for the occasion.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the selectors will submit more than 200 player names for the Women’s IPL, which will take place sometime in March. Following a recent Governing Council meeting, the BCCI requested the selectors to develop a pool of players for the WIPL, as Cricbuzz earlier reported.

According to information obtained by Cricbuzz, the BCCI will receive the list, which includes more than 160–170 Indian players and 30–40 overseas players, in a few days. The 15-day window needed for the five-team league would fall between March 7 and March 22.

The BCCI will first hold an auction for the media rights, then another for the franchises, before finalising the dates.

On the other hand, International Cricket Council (ICC) approved the selection of Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh for India’s Under-19 World Cup team. It is understood that the selection committee wanted to be certain of both players’ eligibility because they had already both represented India at the senior international level.

Through the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Neetu David-led selection panel and the ICC communicated, and the two players were chosen for the inaugural Under-19 World Cup only after receiving approval from the international organisation.
