Rohit Sharma Broke a Huge Record Of Sourav Ganguly, Joins Elite List of Sachin, Kohli

The India-England Test series got underway on Thursday, January 25, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, with the host team showing dominance over the visiting side on the opening day. The England team was bowled out for a score of 246 in just 64.3 overs on the first day of the opening Test match.

Playing in the first inning, by the end of the first-day game, India scored 119 runs for the loss of one wicket in 23 overs, trailing England’s score by 127 runs. During this, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 24 runs with the help of 3 boundaries before getting out in 27 balls.

However, with this small knock, Rohit Sharma registered a record to his name and broke an old record of the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. In terms of scoring the most international runs for India, Rohit Sharma has surpassed Ganguly.

Rohit Sharma needed 14 runs to surpass Sourav Ganguly, and he successfully achieved that milestone. After Rohit Sharma’s innings of 24 runs, he now has got 18,444 runs in 468 matches with an average of 43.29, which includes 46 centuries and 100 half-centuries.

Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 34,357 runs in 782 matches, with Virat Kohli in second place with 26,733 runs in 522 matches. Rahul Dravid holds the third position with 24,064 runs in 504 matches, while Sourav Ganguly has accumulated 18,433 runs in 421 matches.

Talking about the England batting, Ben Stokes got the maximum 70 runs in 88 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. Apart from him, Jonny Bairstow got 37 runs in 58 balls with the help of five fours.

For India, spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja got three wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel also managed to get two wickets each in their kitty.
