Reports: BCCI Unhappy With CAB Over Ticket Price Announcement At Eden Gardens For ICC World Cup 2023

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly displeased with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for announcing the ticket prices for the ICC World Cup matches at Eden Gardens without consulting the BCCI. Eden Gardens is set to host five matches in the upcoming World Cup, including a crucial semifinal.

The CAB made an official announcement earlier this month, stating the ticket prices for each match, ranging from a minimum of Rs 650 for the first clash to a maximum of Rs 3000 for India’s match and the semifinal. However, according to The Telegraph, the BCCI has expressed dissatisfaction with the CAB’s independent decision-making in this matter.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, whose elder brother Snehasish Ganguly serves as the CAB president, visited Eden Gardens but declined to comment on the issue, stating that it falls under the jurisdiction of the CAB. It is reported that Sourav Ganguly’s visit primarily focused on monitoring the progress of the stadium’s renovation and discussing its upgrade.

“This is totally the CAB’s jurisdiction. They’ll deal with it,” said Ganguly.
The CAB is expected to address the concerns raised by the BCCI promptly as they prepare to host the World Cup matches at Eden Gardens. The highly anticipated tournament is scheduled from October 5 to November 19.

The report further quoted a senior CAB official saying: “Sourav was here mainly to know how Eden Gardens’ renovation was going, while we also discussed about stadium upgradation.”
