Virat Kohli’s elder brother, Vikas Kohli has spoken on the rumors about their mother Saroj Kohli’s health on Instagram. He urged fans not to spread false information without proper verification. Rumors suggested that Virat Kohli opted for a break from the first two Tests against England because of his mother’s illness.
Virat Kohli decided to withdraw from the first two Tests of the ongoing 5-match series between India and England due to personal reasons. The star batter was absent in the first Test, where India suffered a 28-run defeat as England made a comeback in Hyderabad.
“I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom’s health been circulating. Let me clear that our mom is fit and fine. Also, I would request everyone, and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information. Thanks everyone for your concern,” Vikas wrote on his Instagram story.
At first, rumors were circulating that Kohli requested a break from the first two Tests against England due to his mother’s illness. However, there were no official updates confirming this reason.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had appealed to fans and media to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy and avoid speculating the reasons for stepping back from the first two matches of the five-Test series against England.
As of now, there is no clarity on whether Virat Kohli will return to the squad for the last three Tests of the series. The BCCI selection committee is expected to decide on the squad for the remaining three matches in the coming days.
