IND vs ENG, 3rd Test: Pragyan Ojha Suggests Two Big Changes In Team India For Third Test

In the five-match Test series between India and England, the hosts won the second game by 106 runs and equaled the series 1-1 for both teams. There were some solid performances from team India but there are some players whose failures are definitely a thing to worry about for Indian cricket management.

Meanwhile, the former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has talked about the team combination for the third game which is set to happen in Rajkot. The left-handed spinner said that if Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are available for the selection in the next game, two players Rajat Patidar and Shreyas Iyer should be benched for the match starting on February 15.

After India’s remarkable win against England in the second Test in Visakhapatnam, leveling the series at 1-1, Ojha praised the contributions of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah in steering India’s comeback after the loss in the series opener in Hyderabad.

In Vizag, Yashasvi Jaiswal played a knock of 209 runs in the first inning and then Shubman Gill came with his excellent hundred(104) runs in the second inning.

Nevertheless, Shreyas Iyer has encountered challenges in regaining form, experiencing a sequence of 13 innings without achieving a score of fifty or more in Test matches. He couldn’t convert his promising starts into substantial scores in both innings of the second Test in Visakhapatnam. On the other hand, debutant Rajat Patidar faced difficulties against spin bowling in both innings and did not meet the expectations of the selectors.

Ojha said, “Shreyas Iyer was left slightly behind. When you talk about great batters like Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have also scored runs, when they return, they will automatically be part of the XI. So probably Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar will have to make way because the situation is like that.”

Ojha asserted, “It’s not that you don’t want to give opportunities, but when great batters are coming and you don’t have that much room, you cannot give them the cushion. So go back and score runs in domestic cricket.”
