Big Action Taken By ICC On Indore Pitch, Check Full Report

India faced defeat in the third test against Australia in Indore. After this defeat, ICC has given another blow to the Indian team and their cricket board BCCI. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has put Indore’s Holkar Stadium in the ‘poor’ pitches category. This is a kind of warning from ICC to Holkar Stadium. The stadium is now in danger of being suspended from hosting international matches.

The pitch at Indore has been rated as poor under the ICC pitch and outfield monitoring process. The spinners of both teams were greatly helped by the spin-friendly surface right from the start of the first day. On the first day, the spinners took 13 out of 14 wickets. Of the 31 wickets that fell during the entire match, 26 were taken by the spinners, while only four went to the fast bowlers.

The ICC has given three demerit points to Holkar Stadium. The council has decided after submitting a report about the pitch to match referee Chris Broad and talking to Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Australian captain Steve Smith. The BCCI now has 14 days to appeal against it.

Regarding the pitch, match referee Chris Broad said, “The pitch was very dry. They were unable to strike a balance between bat and ball. The spinners dominated the pitch from the start. The fifth ball of the match broke through the surface of the pitch. Also, there was little or no seam movement on the Holkar Stadium pitch. There was excessive and uneven bounce throughout the match.”

According to the ICC pitch and outfield monitoring procedure, if a pitch receives five or more demerit points over a rolling period of five years, it will be suspended from hosting international cricket for 12 months. In such a situation, Holkar Stadium has got three demerit points.
