Bangladeshi Pacer Ruled Out Of Asia Cup 2023

Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain’s participation in the upcoming Asia Cup has been ruled out due to a ligament injury on his left leg. The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) chief physician, Debashish Chowdhury, confirmed that Ebadot sustained the injury during the second ODI against Afghanistan last month.

The injury led to his exclusion from the subsequent T20I series against Afghanistan, and he has been undergoing rehabilitation since then.

Ebadot recently experienced discomfort in his left leg, prompting the decision to rule him out of the Asia Cup. The BCB has reported his injury to the team management. As a result of his injury, he won’t be available for the Asia Cup.

“Ebadot has a ligament injury on his left leg due to a sprain. He will be out of the Asia Cup. We have forwarded the report (to the team management),” Debashish told The Daily Star.

While the BCB is not actively looking to name a replacement for Ebadot due to the presence of other pacers in the squad, there’s a consideration for bringing in a new face to groom for the future. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, a promising young pacer who performed well in the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup, is considered a potential candidate to join the squad.

Ebadot’s absence due to injury is a setback for the Bangladesh cricket team’s pace bowling unit ahead of the Asia Cup. The BCB will need to evaluate their options and make decisions accordingly to ensure they have a well-rounded squad for the tournament.
