The fifth test match between Team India and England is currently being played in Dharamshala. The hosts have already won the series and are leading by 3-1.
However, the fifth test match between the two sides also becomes very special for India’s spin magician Ravi Ashwin. The off-spinner represented India for the 100th time in test cricket.
Ashwin’s hundredth game became more special for him as the off-spinner shattered some of the records in test-match cricket.
- Ashwin becomes the fourth blower after the legendary trio of Kumble, Warne, and Muralitharan to pick up the fifer in the 100th test match.
- Ashwin picked up five wickets for the 36th time for team India in test matches and went past Anil Kumble to pick up the most five wicket haul for India.
- Ashwin also equaled Sir Richard Headlee’s record for picking up most five wickets in test cricket.
MOST 5-WICKET HAULS IN TESTS
Muttiah Muralitharan, 67
Shane Warne, 37
Richard Hadlee and R. Ashwin, 36
Anil Kumble, 35
- Ashwin recorded another rare feat as he became the first bowler to pick up a fifer in both his debut and 100th test matches.
- Ashiwn has so far picked up 26 wickets in the ongoing series, becoming the second Indian bowler after Kumble to pick up more than 500 test wickets.
