Watch: “Chup Baithane Bol Isko”, Sarfaraz Khan, Shubman Gill And Jurel Invoked In a Verbal Spat With Jonny Bairstow

On Day 3 of the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala, Indian fielders Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Khan engaged in a verbal war with England wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow on Saturday, March 9th.

The interaction, recorded by the stump mic, initiated with Bairstow asking Gill about his conversation with James Anderson on Day 2. It concluded with Sarfaraz making a derogatory remark about the overall performance of the England batter throughout the series.

India maintained their control on Day 3 of the Test match and limited England to 103/5 in their second innings by the lunch break. Jonny Bairstow who is playing his 100th Test, was ousted by Kuldeep Yadav after scoring 39 runs off 31 balls which includes three fours and three sixes.

While batting, Bairstow got involved in a verbal exchange with certain Indian fielders.

Bairstow: What did you say to Jimmy about him retiring?

Gill: Retire.

Bairstow: Then he got you out next ball.

Gill: So what? …. He can get me out after 100. How many 100s did you score?

Bairstow: How many did you score?

In between this conversation, Dhruv Jurel also joined them and said,”Jonny bhai, easy.”

The last remark came from Sarfaraz who said,”Chup baithne bol isko. Thoda sa run kya bana liye zyaada uchal raha hai.” [Ask him to keep quiet. He has just scored a few runs].”

Some verbal spat was also seen between James Anderson and Shubman Gill when the Indian batter struck him for a massive six.
