Kushal Malla Breaks The Record Of Fastest Hundred In T20I, Surpasses Rohit Sharma And David Miller’s 35-Ball Record

In the Asian Games 2023, Nepal batters shattered some world records with their destructive batting. Nepal also became the first team to score 300 runs in the history of T20I cricket. The team got this achievement against Mongolia where Nepal’s batters got the prestige of scoring the fastest hundred and also the fastest fifty in T20I cricket.

In this match, Mongolia won the toss and elected to bowl first. While batting first Kushal Malla came to bat at No. 3 in the batting lineup and delivered an outstanding performance where he smashed 12 sixes and eight fours to finish with an unbeaten score of 137. This exceptional display took Nepal to their highest-ever T20I total of 314 for 3 against Mongolia.

Before Malla’s, the record for the fastest hundred in T20I belonged to David Miller which he did against Bangladesh in 2017 in just 35 balls. Rohit Sharma has also smashed the fastest hundred in 35 balls only and he got this against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Not only this, Dipendra Singh Airee, batting at No. 5, made history by achieving a remarkable feat. He reached a fifty in just nine balls where he surpassed Yuvraj Singh’s record that had stood for 16 years. Yuvraj Singh had taken 12 balls to reach fifty in the 2007 T20I World Cup against England on September 19.

Before Nepal, Afghanistan held the record for the highest score in the history of T20I where they scored 278 runs against Ireland in 2019.
