IPL 2023: ‘I’m Not Thinking About My ODI Comeback’, Vijay Shankar Blunt Statement On His Future With Team India

The star all-rounder of the Gujarat Titans Vijay Shankar has been performing well in the current season. He has scored two half-centuries in six games and has an impressive batting average of 49.75 and a strike rate of 165.83. This could make him a potential candidate for the Indian ODI team for the World Cup which is scheduled to be held in India this year. Shankar had also been part of the 2019 ODI World Cup squad in England which then sparked controversy among cricket experts.

After the match-winning knock against KKR, Vijay Shankar was questioned about his prospects of returning to the national team. However, he dismissed the question and stated that he is currently concentrating on his performances for the Gujarat Titans and not thinking about anything else.

After the KKR vs Gujarat Titans clash, Vijay Shankar quoted to PTI and said,”It’s too far for me. Mentally I’m really not thinking about that. If I can win matches for my team that’s the only satisfaction I can take from every game.”

“I’ll be really happy to contribute to my team’s wins. Cricket is something we love, that’s why we still continue playing. No expectations, I just wanted to enjoy my cricket,” Shankar further added.

Gujarat Titans are showing strong performances this season with key players such as Vijay Shankar and David Miller stepping up in crucial moments. Shankar said that whatever the team is performing is coming from the hard training players are doing in the nets.

“The amount of practice we do as a team is unbelievable, every individual in our team practices so hard. We do it harsh and harsh,” Shankar said.

“We find ways to come out good in difficult situations. There will be difficult situations be in IPL or any T20 match. It’s about communicating well,” he further added.
