In an important development in the squad of West Indies for the upcoming T20 World Cup, the management has dropped injured Jason Holder and now they have included fast bowler Obed McCoy in place of Holder for the marquee event.
Holder sustained an injury during the County Championship and hasn’t healed in time for the significant event. McCoy, known for his outstanding skills in death bowling, will step in to replace the experienced cricketer in the West Indies squad.
The chief selector Dr. Desmond Haynes stated that the team would feel the absence of Holder’s skills and experience in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
“Jason is an experienced player in our set-up. His absence will undoubtedly be felt both on and off the field. We look forward to having a fully fit Jason with us again soon,” Mr Haynes said.
“While it is unfortunate to lose a player of Jason’s caliber, we are confident in the abilities of Obed McCoy. Obed has shown remarkable skill and promise in his performances, and this opportunity will allow him to further showcase his talent on the international stage. We believe he will bring a fresh and dynamic energy to the squad,” the legendary opener added.
