The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final of the 2024 Indian Premier League. This match was one of the most lopsided finals in the tournament’s history. Gautam Gambhir and Shreyas Iyer are being praised for the team’s success, but Varun Chakravarthy credited another man behind the success of KKR in the tournament.
He gave a lot of credit to assistant coach Abhishek Nayar for helping the Knight Riders win their third title. The star spinner said that Nayar is the main reason Kolkata won the trophy this season.
“I want to congratulate Abhishek Nayar. He is the main man behind our third title win. Abhishek has worked hard throughout the season. He works behind the scenes and doesn’t get enough credit but we must talk about unsung heroes,” he said after the title win.
The star of the KKR’s batting on the night of the finals, Venkatesh Iyer also agreed with Varun’s words.
“Abhishek Nayar was helpful. His inputs came in handy during the matches,” he said.
In the match, SRH scored 113 runs while batting first. For KKR, Andre Russell got three wickets while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana managed to get two wickets each. Narine, Chakravarthy, and Vaibhav Arora also got one wicket each in their kitty.
