Rohit Sharma Shared The Strategy Of Indian Team For The World Test Championship Final 2021-23

The title match of the World Test Championship 2023 will be played between India and Australia. On the last day of the 4th test match, India got big news that they had qualified for the finals of WTC irrespective of their result against Australia. This is because New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by two wickets in a thrilling encounter.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has expressed happiness on reaching the final of the World Test Championship. However, he has also adopted a strict attitude towards finals and has given statements on workload management. In the post-match press conference after the match, Rohit answered some questions about the World Test Championship.

During this, he said that work would also be done on the workload management of some players during the upcoming IPL. Indian captain Rohit Sharma informed that Indian players whose IPL teams will not make it to the playoffs would undergo a two-week conditioning camp ahead of the WTC final in London. Cheteshwar Pujara is the only player in the Indian Test team who is not a part of the IPL.

The final of the World Test Championship will be played between India and Australia at the Oval Stadium in London from June 7. This match will happen right after the IPL. The IPL will begin on March 31, and the final will be played on May 28. This time IPL will be played on the basis of home and away matches.

After the match, Rohit stated, “It is very critical for us. We will be in constant touch with all the players who will play in that final and will monitor their workload and see what is happening with them.”

Rohit further explained, “Around May 21, six teams will probably be out of the IPL play-off race. So whatever players are available, we will try to send them to the UK as soon as possible. We will try to monitor them as much as possible.”

India’s three frontline pacers, Mohammed Siraj (RCB), Mohammed Shami (Gujarat Titans) and Umesh Yadav (KKR), are expected to play at least 12 of the 14 matches of the league stage with their respective franchises. Rohit also added that the bowlers are practising with the Duke’s ball. Duke ball is used in England. The SG ball is used in India, and the Kookaburra ball in Australia.

Some of them have also played county cricket. Rohit said, “Whoever will be a part of the final, none have played a match in the UK before. I don’t think it will be a big problem. I am sure preparation will be the key for us.”
