In the ongoing IPL 2023, the Lucknow Super Giants team have got a massive setback. The captain of the team and the star batter of Team India, KL Rahul has been officially ruled out from the IPL 2023.
During the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1, KL Rahul sustained an injury while trying to stop the ball from going to the boundary. He hurt his right leg while running and this has dropped KL into a big problem.
While there has been no official confirmation from either LSG management or BCCI, it is widely believed that the wicketkeeper-batsman will not be playing in IPL 2023 and has only a slight chance of participating in the World Test Championship finale against Australia at The Oval on June 7. However, a clearer understanding of his injury will emerge once the results of his scans are available and on the basis of it BCCI will take the final decision.
The reports suggest that the captain of Lucknow Super Giants is currently in Mumbai to undergo scans for his injury. After the result, BCCI officials and doctors from NCA (National Cricket Academy) will decide the future of KL Rahul.
The reports claim that KL Rahul may have a hamstring or hip injury. He also underwent hernia surgery in Germany ten months ago, so all factors will be carefully considered before he is allowed to return to the game. He is expected to miss the WTC finale and most probably Ishan Kishan would take his place in the team.
