“If you don’t support us now…”Shaheen Afridi special request to the fans after the team’s super 8 exit

The rain-affected game between USA and Ireland in Group A ended up being a big disappointment for Pakistan, as the team led by Babar Azam was knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024 during the group stage. Pakistan has only two points from three games and has one more match against Ireland, where they can earn a maximum of four points. With Pakistan out, the USA, who are playing in their first World Cup and have five points, have secured a spot in the Supers 8s, along with India.

Before the USA-Ireland match, Pakistan’s fast bowling star Shaheen Shah Afridi asked fans and supporters of the Pakistan cricket team to stand by them during the tough times in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

In an interview with the YouTube channel Crickwick, Afridi mentioned, “People usually cheer for you when things are going well, but I’ve always believed that fans should also stand by us when we face challenges.”

Afridi further explained, “We’re not just a neighborhood cricket team. This is also your national team. If you can’t back us up during difficult times, then you’re no different from the media.”

Afridi’s performance has been getting worse lately, and many fans are wondering if he’s lost some of his fast bowling speed. Afridi disagrees with these doubts.

He explained, “I’ve always been a bowler who could bowl at speeds between 136 and 140 kilometers per hour, and I’m still able to do that. People only talk positively about a bowler when he’s taking wickets, but when he’s not, they only focus on the negative aspects.”

Pakistan is facing elimination in the group stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup. They were surprised by the USA, the tournament’s host, in a close match that ended in a tiebreaker called the Super Over. Even though they were in a good position for most of the game, they also lost to India.
