Breaking News: Vivian Richards Likely to Mentor Pakistan Team at T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup is about to go off, and Pakistan is hoping to hire legendary West Indies player Viv Richards to coach their team. Ten days remain until the USA and the West Indies host the World Cup. Since 20 teams will be competing in the tournament for the first time since its founding, the event will be historic. According to sources close to Geo News, Pakistan is hoping to appoint Richards as the squad mentor ahead of the competition.

The sources claim that the former West Indies batting master is now in discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The former West Indies player has extensive expertise and is knowledgeable about playing in the Caribbean.

Additionally, it’s thought that PCB was motivated to sign Richards because of his influence in the Pakistan Super League at 72 years old. Richards is a mentor for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. Nevertheless, PCB will have a difficult time luring Richards in because of his prior media obligations for the occasion.

Following the resignation of former director of cricket Mohammad Hafeez earlier this year, Pakistan has entirely redesigned its white-ball setup. Gary Kirsten, a former cricket player from South Africa, was named head coach of the limited-overs team last month.

Under his leadership, India, Pakistan’s bitter opponent, finally ended their 28-year wait to claim the 2011 World Cup trophy on home soil. Throughout his tenure, India rose to the top of the ICC Test rankings as well. Prior to the ‘Men in Green’s’ four-match T20I series against England, Kirsten recently moved to Leeds and bonded with the team.

The 56-year-old wants to lead Pakistan to victory in the World Cup. They will get ready for the forthcoming T20 World Cup with the help of their forthcoming four-match series against England. The T20I series is scheduled to start in Headingley, Carnegie, on May 22 and end in London on May 30.

Pakistan is the only team among the 19 that hasn’t revealed their 15-man roster. Pakistan, the United States, India, Canada, and Ireland are all in Group A of the much-awaited competition.
