Breaking News: Ricky Ponting Is Set To Be Sacked From DC Caoching Role; Indian Former Captain Set To Replace Him

Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, currently serving as the director of cricket for Delhi Capitals (DC), is reportedly set to take over as the head coach of the franchise for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. This development comes after the Capitals endured a disappointing campaign in the absence of regular captain Rishabh Pant, finishing in 9th place. While no official announcement has been made by the team, a Bengali outlet has published reports indicating Ganguly’s potential role as head coach while retaining his position as the director of cricket for DC.

Ricky Ponting, who previously led the Mumbai Indians to IPL victory in 2015, joined the Delhi Capitals as head coach in 2018. Under his guidance, the team reached their first-ever IPL final in 2020 and finished at the top of the table in 2021. Sourav Ganguly was associated with the Capitals in 2019 but stepped down from his role to assume the position of BCCI president. He later returned to the Capitals’ fold ahead of the 2023 season.

While there has been no official confirmation regarding the coaching transition, it has been confirmed that Rishabh Pant will resume his role as captain for the Delhi Capitals in the next season. Pant was unable to participate in the recently concluded IPL edition due to an injury sustained in a car accident.

With Sourav Ganguly potentially taking on the head coach role for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, the franchise aims to bounce back from their disappointing 2023 campaign. Ganguly’s experience and leadership qualities, coupled with his prior association with the team, make him a strong candidate for the position. As fans eagerly await official confirmation, all eyes will be on Ganguly’s potential impact in steering the Delhi Capitals to success in the upcoming IPL season.
