Australian Skipper Steve Smith Warned Indian Team For WTC Finals

The finalist of the World Test Championship 2021-23 has been decided, and the Australian team will face the Indian derby in the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23 at Oval in London starting on 7th June. This is the second edition of the World Test Championship. Indian team qualifies for the second time in the final of the WTC and will try to win this prestigious cup.

Talking to the media, Australian skipper Steve Smith said we are excited to play the WTC final against the Indian team in June. And also assumed that the final would be great against a team like India.

“Yeah, the guys are pumped by it. I think we saw India when they came back out on the field just after New Zealand had won in what looked like a pretty cool Test match there as well, you know, shaking their hands and what have you. So it’s going to be great coming up against India in the final,” Smith said in the press conference.

The cricket ground of the Oval is different from the Indian pitches because it doesn’t help the spinner before the 3rd day of the match. So for the first three-day, the speedster will play big role for their team; however, after the 3rd-day spinner can also play an important role. Talking about the pitch of the Oval, Australian skipper Smith added that it would be great to play at the Oval because of pitch conditions.

“At Oval, the wicket there can sometimes take some spin, particularly as the game wears on. So it could be interesting in terms of what sort of wicket we get. But, you know, it’s a great place to play cricket,” Smith quoted about the Oval pitch.

Australia has performed outstandingly throughout the year. They dominantly won against Pakistani at their home and then won against South Africa at home and also drew the Test series in Sri Lanka. And also lost the first two test matches in the BGT against India; they won the third test match and drew the last match. Although they lost the series, their comeback encouraged them, which will help them in the WTC final.

“There’s usually reasonable bounce and pace for an English wicket. It’s probably as close as you get to Australia potentially in terms of pace and bounce. So yeah, it’s going to be a great Test match, and the guys are looking forward to it,” the captain concluded about the conditions of the game.
