“You didn’t deserve to…”Ex Indian star blasts Pakistan team for their disastrous campaign

The Pakistan cricket team has faced a lot of criticism after being eliminated early from the T20 World Cup 2024. They also didn’t do well in the previous Cricket World Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stage. This recent failure has made people question the team’s performance even more. The team, which was the champion in 2009 and the runner-up in the last T20 World Cup, has been widely criticized. Even former Indian player Virender Sehwag criticized the team after their early exit.

Pakistan had a very bad start in the tournament. They lost their first match to the United States in a Super Over, which was part of Group A that included India, Canada, and Ireland. In their second match, they lost to India by six runs in New York after they couldn’t reach a target of 120 runs.

India easily reached the Super Eight round, while Pakistan was knocked out of the competition. The USA secured the last spot in the group.

The USA had already defeated Pakistan and Canada in their group matches. They moved on to the Super Eight with 5 points because their game against Ireland was canceled due to rain. Pakistan was relying on the USA losing that match to have a chance at the Super Eight, but the rain ruined their hopes, allowing the USA, who were new to the T20 World Cup, to move forward.

“Why blame the rain? Even if you had won, you didn’t deserve to move on. You would have lost in the Super Eight stage anyway. The teams there wouldn’t have been easy. You need to understand that losing to newcomers like the USA means you don’t deserve to move forward. You can’t even chase 120 runs against India, scoring only 113 with wickets left… How can you blame the rain?” Sehwag said to Cricbuzz.

“In 2007, both India and Pakistan didn’t make it to the next round of the competition. At that time, we were in separate groups. Now, the ICC will consider putting India and Pakistan in a group and make sure they don’t include a team that can defeat them”, he said.
