In the ongoing World Test Championship Final 2023 at Oval, the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has come up with a special praise for Virat Kohli. The ex-BCCI president is roaming with the Indian team as a commentator in the clash of India and Australia at the Oval and he talked about the fortune of the WTC final.
In the first innings against Australia, Kohli’s performance was underwhelming as he fell short of making any huge impact with the bat and scored only 14 runs before returning to the dressing room. He was dismissed by Mitchell Starc on an unexpected bouncer. The ball bounced sharply, hitting Kohli’s gloves and Steve Smith caught him at the second slip.
Ajinkya Rahane(89) and Shardul Thakur(51) tried to give the best chance to India in the WTC final but at the end of Day 3, it was Australia which had a lead of 296 runs. During a discussion on the team’s ability to chase a total Sourav Ganguly expressed that even if the team gets a score of 360 or 370 to chase, the men in blue will remain in the game due to the presence of Virat Kohli. Ganguly highlighted that Kohli has the ability to chase the highest of targets with ease showing his temperament and this is the reason he is regarded as the best chaser in the world.
While talking to Star Sports, Ganguly said, “If India has to chase 360 or 370, then India will be in the game. They have Virat Kohli, the best Chaser in the world & many class players as well. So anything can happen in the last two days.”
