WTC Final: BCCI Provided Big Update On KL Rahul, Unadkat, And Umesh Yadav For Their Participation In WTC Final

The final World Test Championship will be played between India and Australia at Oval in London. Indian team has reached the final of the World Test Championship for the second time in a row. However, the Indian team is in trouble before the title battle. Three important players of the Indian Test team are injured. These include Lokesh Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat, and Umesh Yadav. The BCCI has given an update on the injury of these three players.

“KL Rahul sustained an injury on his right thigh while fielding during the 43rd Tata IPL 2023 between Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1. After consultation with experts, it has been decided that Rahul will undergo surgery at the earliest and rehab at the National Cricket Academy. He has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against Australia.” Ishan Kishan has been included in the Indian team in place of Rahul.

Jaydev Unadkat’s leg got stuck in a rope while bowling in the nets, and he sustained an injury to his left shoulder due to a fall. Expert advice has been sought on his injury, and the left-arm pacer is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and is undergoing strength and rehab sessions for his shoulder. A decision on his participation in the Test Championship final will be taken later.

Umesh Yadav suffered a minor hamstring injury in his left leg during the 36th match of Tata IPL 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 26. The fast bowler is currently under the supervision of the KKR medical team and has started bowling low-intensity as part of his rehabilitation process. The BCCI medical team regularly contacts the KKR medical team and closely monitors Umesh’s progress.
