The all-rounder from England has disclosed that he is thinking of retiring from ODI cricket after the 2023 World Cup in India. The tournament will be held in October and November, and Ali is expected to be a key player for the defending champions, England. Ali is recognized as one of the top all-rounders of the present generation, and his absence will be felt by the team.
With the return of Jofra Archer, England is anticipated to be one of the favourites to win the trophy. It will be interesting to see how Jos Buttler will take the team ahead after Eoin Morgan’s legacy.
Ali is not part of the England vs Bangladesh T20 series and he has said that his main goal is to play in the 50-over world cup in India and help his team to take it to a great height.
“I don’t set a lot of goals, but I want to play that World Cup, be a part of that World Cup and hopefully win that World Cup and then we’ll see,” he told talkSPORT 2.
Moeen Ali further added,”I’m not saying I will retire or I’m not saying I won’t retire. Another seven or eight months at 35 is a lot. It could be a time where I’m thinking that’s me done now and I might look at (Liam) Livingstone and Jacksy (Will Jacks) and think ‘you know what, my time is up, I’d rather these guys get ready for the next World Cup.”

Moeen Ali, will be seen playing for Chennai Super kings in the upcoming season of IPL. Ali mentioned that if he decides to retire from ODI cricket after the 2023 World Cup, he would still participate in the T20 leagues across the globe.
