‘When It Comes To IPL, Everyone Forget About…..’ Sunil Gavaskar Slammed Indian Stars and BCCI

Team India have lost their all-important game on Nov 10th at Adelaide against England and exit from the T20 World Cup in the semi-final game. After the humiliating loss, they have been facing criticism from all over the world.

The loss against England was humiliating and it’s not only about the defeat it’s about how they have played the entire game. In the first 6 overs Indian openers have provided a sluggish start, and next few overs, in the process of accelerating the run rate they have lost crucial wickets.

Following the criticism former Indian legendary cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar slammed the Indian side on “workload management”. While playing for the nation, we heard about workload but when it comes to IPL they forget this concept.

“When you can’t win World Cup, there will be changes. The team for New Zealand has changed. But every time we talk about this ‘workload’, why does it only happen when they play for India? You play in the whole season of IPL, and travel from one place to other. You don’t get tired there? Is there no workload? Only when you play for India, especially when you have to tour a non-glamorous country, you remember workload? This is wrong.” Sunil Gavaskar said.

Further Sunil Gavaskar slammed BCCI on “pampering” the Indian player, and also added, if you are getting paid your retainer fees then there is not any question on workload, but when it comes to IPL no one speak about workload and all. Indian Selection Committee needs to send a strong message to the players and this team need some changes.

“If you’re fit, how does workload come into picture? Stop pampering the players. You’re being picked in the team, you’re being paid a retainer fee. If you can’t play because of workload, waive off the retainer fee too. Don’t play a match, and lose your retainer fee. Many players will then forget their workload and come to play. FICA had said the same thing. When IPL came, everyone forgot the workload. Selection committee needs to decide on the changes, but you need to send out a strong message” he further added.
