West Indies Announce Squad For Zimbabwe Test, This Bowler Joins Team After 15 Long Months

Cricket West Indies(CWI) has announced the squad for the forthcoming two-match away Test series against Zimbabwe, which begins on February 4. Both matches are slated to take place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The second and final Test begins on 12th February.

Meanwhile, CWI has made the decision to recall left-arm spinners Jomal Warrican, Gudakesh Motie, and veteran speedster Shannon Gabriel. However, one of the Windies’ key players, Jayden Seales, won’t be available for selection due to a knee injury and for this he will go for surgery soon.

Shannon Gabriel will return to the West Indies red-ball team after a gap of 15 long months. In November 2021, he played against Sri Lanka in his final Test match. The pacer would therefore now be expecting to have an influence against Zimbabwe and try to secure his spot in the national Test squad.

The forthcoming Test series matters nothing to the Caribbean team because they are already out of the competition for the 2021–2023 WTC championship. The West Indies are at sixth place in the Points table.

Here’s the West Indies squad for Zimbabwe Tests:

Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Jermaine Blackwood (vice-captain), Nkrumah Bonner, Tagnarine Chanderpaul, Roston Chase, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, Raymon Reifer, Kemar Roach, Devon Thomas, Jomel Warrican
