Former Pakistan cricket team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq talked about the team’s exit from the T20 World Cup. Pakistan didn’t make it past the group stage because they lost to the USA and India. India and the USA moved on to the Super 8 stage from Group A, with India in first place with seven points and the USA in second with five points. Since Pakistan didn’t advance from the group stage for the first time in the T20 World Cup, Inzamam suggested there might be changes to the team and acknowledged that the team’s performance is getting worse.
Inzamam explained that Pakistan used to do better than other teams in T20 games, but recently, their results haven’t been good.
“Our cricket is getting worse. I’m not just saying this because we lost to the USA. We also lost to Ireland before the World Cup. We lost to New Zealand’s weaker team at home and also to England. Before this, we were doing better than other teams in T20s. But our cricket has been going downhill lately. I’m not saying we should replace some players with new ones, but the PCB needs to talk about why our cricket is getting worse,” Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.
Pakistan was definitely out of the competition on Friday when the USA moved on to the next round, just like India, because their game in Florida got rained out.
After being knocked out early from the T20 World Cup, the Pakistani cricket players might have their main contracts looked at again and their pay could be cut by the PCB.
A report says that some people, including former players, told the PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, to look again at the player contracts that were made during the time of his previous chairman ,Zaka Ashraf.
Pakistan started their games with a surprise loss in a Super Over against the USA, who were also hosting the event. They then had a close match, losing by just six runs, against their big rivals, India. But they did win against Canada by seven wickets. Unfortunately, this win came too late for Babar and his team to move on to the next round. In their last game in the group, Pakistan will play against Ireland in Florida on Sunday.
