At the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, India began their final training for the T20 World Cup with a commanding eight-wicket victory. Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh, a pace bowling duo, caused the ball to swing through the air as they reduced South Africa to five down for just nine runs in three overs. Keshav Maharaj’s lower-order line-up then helped the score to rise to 106 for eight. Suryakumar Yadav continued his dominance in style. KL Rahul, who was just hanging in there with his sluggish fifty to help India chase down the target with 20 balls to spare, was the perfect assistant.
Virat Kohli was spotted conversing with his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, inside the team van as it exited the arena following the decisive victory that gave India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. When Kohli and his teammates boarded the bus, the crowd outside the Greenfield International Stadium went wild. The former captain simply turned his phone toward the crowd, and their reaction was priceless.
Here’s the video:
Although both Rohit and Virat were dismissed cheaply early in the chase. Both batters could not face the dangerous spell of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. Virat Kohli only managed to score 3 runs in 9 balls.
On October 2, the second T20I will be played in Guwahati, and on October 4, the series finale will be held in Indore, after which the match will switch to the ODI format.
