The first T20 between India and South Africa was played at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. In the match, team India single-handedly beat the Proteas by 8 wickets.
After winning the toss, India asked South Africa to bat first where Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar came as the monster and degraded the African batting lineup. Arshdeep took 3 while Deepak Chahar bagged 2 wickets, this helped India to stop the visitors at 106/8 after 20 overs.
Chasing the easy target, India did not have a great start and lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli when the team was standing at 17. From there Suryakumar Yadav took the charge along with the Indian opener KL Rahul(51).
Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 50 in 33 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 3 fours. With these 3 sixes, now Suryakumar Yadav has made a unique world record for most sixes in a calendar year in men’s T20I. This record earlier belonged to Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan who smashed 42 sixes in 2021. Now Suryakumar has 45 sixes to his name in 2022.
So far in 2022, Suryakumar Yadav played a total of 21 matches where he scored 45 sixes and 63 fours. In these matches, he has also scored 732 runs which is the highest by any Indian batsman in a calendar year.
